Our Outdoor Learning Environment

This year, we are excited to begin developing our outdoor learning environment at Bredgar to create a space where children can explore, imagine, create, take appropriate risks and learn through play.

We want our outdoor spaces to offer much more than traditional play equipment. We are developing a rich and varied environment with natural materials, loose parts, den-building opportunities, creative spaces, mud and water play, areas for imaginative play, gardening, quiet spaces and opportunities to explore nature.

Children will be encouraged to lead their own play, solve problems, work collaboratively and use their creativity, developing important skills such as communication, resilience, independence and teamwork. We will also ensure that our outdoor provision is inclusive and accessible, so that every child can participate and enjoy the benefits of outdoor play.

Our vision is for the children to see the outdoor environment as a place of possibility and discovery—where a collection of simple resources can become anything they imagine.

We can't wait to see what the children create!
